It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of November all the way back in 1996.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
It was the end of an era that month, as the Collie Motorcycle Club held the last of its round-the-houses races through the streets of town.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry also recommended that local businesses refuse to pay rates until something was done about the Goods Shed.
The Collie Show was on, although it was changed to be a single-day show which didn’t draw the crowd expected by organisers.
But on a brighter note, the shire crowned its sportspeople of the year with clay target shooter David Fox taking out the JL Mumme medal and hockey star Bree Murray claiming the junior sportsperson award.
What do you remember about the month?
