Driver Gary Hall jr. had a night to remember on Saturday, January 19 at Donaldson Park.
During the Bunbury Trotting Club’s first race meeting for 2019, he and race favourite Major Survivor ($1.50) took out the Sunwise 3yo Westbred MS Pace (2100 metres).
The bay gelding led at the bell, with Watch Me React close behind.
Major Survivor held on to finish in front by half a neck.
Hall jr. led Justin Prentice-trained Always An Honour ($1.55) to victory in the $7500 Beat the Tipster MS Pace.
The New Zealand bay gelding crossed the line 4.20m ahead of second-placed Heez A Masterpiece.
Hall Jr. snapped up his third race victory in the $5 Carlton Dry Special MS Pace.
In an astounding display, he and race favourite Machine Elle ($2.90) finished 3.50m ahead of Rocknroll Beachboy.
The driver then pulled off a miracle by claiming his fourth consecutive win.
Second at the bell, My Master of Disguise ($5.50) took advantage of the sprint lane on the last lap.
The kiwi bay gelding stormed home to clinch the Happy 21st Bailey McDonough MS Pace.
Leading at the bell, race favourite Salacious Gossip slowed on the final lap to finish sixth.
Prentice earned a double after taking out the $25,000 There Goes My Super MS Pace.
He and race favourite Sweet N Fast ($2.25) were in front at the bell.
The kiwi bay gelding held the lead before crossing ahead of Harry Haich and Mister Spot.
On January 18, the trainer/driver led Rocknroll Lincoln to win WA harness racing’s biggest race.
Prentice and Rocknroll Lincoln brought home the $450,000 Group One TABtouch WA Pacing Cup (2936m).
Late last year, Prentice and the kiwi brown finished in style to win the $50,000 Mitavite Bunbury Pacing Cup.
Pacing action will return to Donaldson Park on Saturday, February 9.
The club will then celebrate the Manea Classic on February 23.
On March 23, some of the country’s best drivers and trainers will head to the South West for the Battle of Bunbury.
