A day full of fun, ceremony and music came to a close with the Skyfest fireworks on Australia Day.
A team of volunteers and City of Bunbury staff spent weeks putting the final touches to the 2019 Skyfest Australia Day Celebrations at Bicentennial Square and the Graham Bricknell Music Shell,
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said Australia Day was something he always looked forward to.
“It's a great buzz for me,” he said.
“This is a community wide celebration, and that includes the entire community, whether you're born here, whether you've come from other countries - we are all inclusive in Bunbury.”
The day began at 6.30am with the APEX barbecue breakfast, followed by the annual fun run before the Mayor’s Citizenship Ceremony.
Twenty nine individuals from 13 different countries became citizens on the day.
“That's one of the most enjoyable aspects of being Mayor, to see people become Australian citizens, the celebration with their family and friends is always pretty cool and it's a great honour and privilege for me to do that,” Mr Brennan said.
Sideshow alley was popular with crowds enjoying a variety of activites in the afternoon with children enjoying free activities including the water slide, umbrella painting, Double Decker Game Bus, Wildlife Petting Zoo, Circus workshop, rock-climbing wall and trampolines.
