For three weeks, discussion of women's football in Australia has centred on one man: Alen Stajcic.
Sam Kerr hopes her hat-trick to send beloved hometown club Perth Glory into the W-League grand final can shift the focus back on the players.
"The most important thing is for people to be talking about what we do on the field. The reason people have been talking about the Matildas in the last two years is because of what we've done on the field," Kerr said.
"How great some of the players are and how good role models they are.
"Hopefully it can go back to football now and we can roll onto the World Cup."
Of course, the matter of Stajcic's controversial sacking from his position as Matildas coach remains far from settled, as FFA interviews candidates to be his replacement.
But Kerr is entitled to feel she and her colleagues have earned a moment in the sunshine after knocking off the premiers in a six-goal thriller on Sunday.
They will play Sydney FC, the only other Australian side Kerr has played for, this weekend for the title.
Kerr scored a superb treble and set up strike partner Rachel Hill for the other goal in Perth's defeat of Melbourne Victory.
She celebrated with a trademark backflip before tipping her hat at younger, lesser-known colleagues that did the business at AAMI Park.
"Our young girls don't get enough credit. Leticia McKenna has been playing all season as a 16-year-old midfielder. She's a number 10; the most important position on the team," she said.
"She actually killed it today. I can't remember when I was 16 being able to run out 120 minutes. It's unbelievable.
"The quality she gives, she's a star. I love her."
While Perth Glory's A-League side is also on track for a title, the W-League team can beat them to it by triumphing in Sydney this weekend.
The success-starved Western Australians haven't won a championship in the A-League/W-League era, with the women's side losing two grand finals previously.
Kerr, who claimed a title with the Sky Blues five years ago, said she faced a battle keeping her eyes on the prize this week.
"I can't explain it to you. It would be unbelievable," she said.
"I've got to stop myself dreaming and just focus on the game.
"It gives me chills thinking about it and it would be a dream come true for me and the girls."
