The Shire of Collie will soon look a little different after council recently chose a brand new logo, tagline and vision statement in an attempt to re-brand.

At the most recent council meeting on Tuesday, February 12, Shire of Collie councillors voted unanimously on the new logo, tagline and vision statement for the shire.
‘Explore. Discover. Connect.' is the new tagline for the shire and the new vision statement is, ‘a connected community that is as rich and diverse as its heritage and landscape.’
The new logo encompasses water; used to represent the abundance of lakes and waterways throughout the shire, leaves; which show the beauty of the natural environment that surrounds the town, an open-cut mine; which represents Collie’s pride in mining heritage, and community; to represent a joyful and thriving community.
These four key elements are interconnected to form a c like shape for Collie.
Late last year, workshops for councillors and Shire of Collie staff, along with a community survey were held to help workshop ideas for the re-branding model.
Shire of Collie president Sarah Stanley said back in November that the branding and marketing of Collie was one of council’s key strategic priorities.
“A new brand will help us define our shared vision for the future and tell a new story about our community,” she said.
“A solid brand is critical to supporting economic development, attracting investment and generating community pride.”
One of the key priorities in the shire’s Corporate Business Plan 2017/18 – 2021/22 identified the development and implementation of a new brand and marketing campaign would help with marketing Collie in the future and for tourism promotion.
As a result of this, at the budget council meeting held on July 17 of last year, council allocated $14,917 during the 2018-19 budget process for the consultation processes and development of a new tagline, vision statement and visual identity for the shire.
Shire chief executive officer David Blurton said late last year that the re-branding would not only enhance the promotion of the shire and its vision in tourism, events and projects, but also help to reduce consumable costs over time.
