Pacing at Albany on Friday night and Williams on Saturday afternoon turned up one winner and ten placings for Collie based reinsmen.
On Friday night Cody Wallrodt was successful behind the Charlie Draper trained Aint Misbehavin when he led all the way as a $9.50 chance.
He paid a place dividend of $2,20.
Trent Wheeler was the driver behind the other 10 placings, five at Albany and five at Williams without actually saluting the judge!
His Albany placings were all well supported with Terry Ferguson’s Faiselle sitting behind the leader before running third as a $1.40 place shot and Art Lover facing the breeze for Kath Melbourne for the same placing at $2.10 the place.
Another two thirds were behind the Graham Cummins trained pair Blissntheblack who led and then paid $1.80 and Righteous Brother who faced the breeze as a $1.40 place chance.
Avivo for Graeme Waters was Wheeler’s best result finishing second after sitting behind the leader and winner at $1.20 the place.
Williams’ Sunday afternoon meeting gave Trent three seconds and two thirds.
He started the afternoon with a strong second after facing the breeze on Hayden Reeves’ Aussie Made Kiwi who was good value at $3.90 for the place.
Bianca Ashcroft’s Triple Brie was then able to close late for third after racing in the one out one back position as a $1.50 place chance and then Dale Jackson’s three year old Watch Me React faced the breeze as favourite before finishing another second as a skinny $1.04 place chance.
Wheeler then wrapped up the afternoon behind his Dad Brian’s pair Empty the Till, third after leading ($1.10), and Mckinley second after being crossed early and sitting behind the leader ($1.60).
Trot awards close at half way mark
With the running of the Williams Harness Racing meeting last Sunday the seasonal awards for the Williams, Bridgetown, Collie season are extremely close.
Dylan Egerton Green leads narrowly from Aiden DeCampo, Shannon Suvaljko and Trent Wheeler in the Ray Aramini Leading Reinspersons award with Sarah Suvaljko leading Terry Ferguson, John Graham, Matthew Scott and Peter Tilbrook for the Auburn Valley Leading Trainer spot.
Nowuseemesmile, Natural Temptation, Gateway Express and Icomeoffsecondbest are locked within two points of each other as the Noel and Bev Holdsworth Leading Horse while Emily Suvaljko has a handy lead from Corey Peterson and Bailey McDonough for the leading Junior Driver award.
All these competitors look like being in the running again in Collie on Sunday.
This Sunday’s Joe and Margaret Suvaljko Memorial race has attracted a very good field with Cut Above, Absolution, Rum Delight and Betabeeasy looking the main chances.
An extremely competitive 2700 metre standing start race has several horses coming from good form in the Busselton round including Henwood Bay (front), Emjay Twenty Three, (10 metres), Budd Sidewinder and Tactile Sensation (both 20m) and Captain Proud (30m).
A mobile 3yo event has an even field probably headed by While They Pray, Triple Brie and Neverfeltbetter.
Another standing start event will also be keenly contested with Sammys Ideal (20m), locals Call Me Ernie (10m) and Kiss Me Cougar(40m) and Disco Spirit (20m) all in with a chance.
There are also several supporting races to add to the eight event programme.
The Pick 4 competition jackpots to $250 this week with another Kalbarri holiday to be won off the Chocolate Wheel; and of course another bike for the kids.
