A man has been fined over his involvement in an incident at a local shopping centre late last year.
William Jonathon Laughton attended Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 7, via video link from Bunbury Regional Prison.
He pleaded to two counts of breaching bail, one of disorderly behaviour in public, and one of obstructing police officers.
Police prosecutor sergeant Darren Clifton told the court police were called to Bunbury Centrepoint Shopping Centre at 4pm on December 5, 2018.
Laughton was seen pointing at officers, while loudly yelling and swearing. Many members of the public were able to see/hear Laughton at the time.
Refusing to leave, he was arrested and led away by police. Laughton then attempted to push and bite the officers.
In court, Laughton admitted to interfering with the actions of police on duty. He revealed he had been living on the streets, and had forgotten his court dates.
The court heard he had been in custody for one week prior to sentencing.
Laughton was fined $400 for the obstructing police and showing disorderly behaviour.
He also received a $200 fine, suspended for six months.
