The South West Slammers continued their rocky start to the 2019 State Basketball League season against the Willetton Tigers on Saturday night.
Playing at the Eaton Recreation Centre, the Slammers' women's side looked set to claim its second home victory in three weeks.
Emma Gandini (18 points) put the Tigers ahead in the opening term, before the Slammers found their footing.
Slammers' imports Brittni Montgomery (collecting her second double-double, 18 points and 11 rebounds) and Makailah Dyer (15) were both solid under pressure.
After the home side took the lead in the second term, Tigers Imogen Ayliffe (13) and Desiree Kelley (also 13) banded together to put Willetton in front at the main break.
With the scores locked at 52-all at three-quarter time, the stage was set for a thrilling final term.
Willetton celebrated a 73 to 68 win following a late charge from Tiger Emily Counsel (13).
The Slammers men's side was full of confidence ahead of its clash with Willetton later in the evening.
Maurice Barrow (22), Connor Mincherton (19), and Lachlan Evans (11) teamed up to give the Tigers a 10-point lead at half time.
A two-pointer from Slammer Lucas Goff (6) levelled the scores at 72-all midway through the final term.
Sterling efforts from Michael Lay (33), Brian Voelkel (12), and Chris Douglas (11) failed to prevent Willetton from collecting an 86 to 79 win.
The Slammers will take on Kalamunda Eastern Suns and Perth Redbacks in round four.
