South West MLC Adele Farina has urged the community to help the Salvation Army to help those in need by donating to the Red Shield Appeal on May 25 to 26.
Ms Farina said with a growing number of people experiencing financial stress, the Salvation Army was experiencing greater demand than ever before.
"The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvation Army's biggest annual fundraising appeal," she said.
"The Salvos do a great job providing vital support services to those in need in our community but they need our help to continue to provide these support services.
"By donating to the Red Shield appeal, you will help the Salvos to continue to support those in need with food hampers, blankets and warm clothing for the coming winter months, assistance with paying bills, emergency housing, counselling and financial management.
"Hardship does not discriminate, more people from all walks of life are turning to the Salvos for help."
