Six community groups are recipients of grants through Synergy's 2019 Collie Small Grants Program.
The Collie Police Community and Youth Centre, Collie Cricket Club, Western Australia Endurance Riders Association, Collie Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades, Allanson Primary School, and Horsepower Collie will each receive one-off grants of up to $5000.
The grants will support projects aimed at strengthening social, economic and environmental factors of Collie's community.
The recipients were announced at a ceremony held at the Margaretta Wilson Centre last Wednesday, May 29.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray and Shire of Collie president Sarah Stanley attended the event to celebrate the awarding of the grants.
Synergy's manager of thermal generation Leigh Amos said the grants program was a great opportunity to support groups within the local community.
"We received a range of applications to the recently renewed program, identifying a number of impressive projects being undertaken by Collie community groups," he said.
"I'm thrilled that these grants enable us to support organisations to develop and benefit the community in which we operate.
"It is pleasing to see the projects span a diverse range of needs within our community - from disability through to sporting activities, and ultimately create sustainable outcomes for the community as a whole."
Each project aligns to Synergy's partnership pillars of Innovation, Education and Community and the company's corporate values.
The Collie PCYC received a grant to deliver an upcoming round of their popular school holiday program.
Portable oxygen devices will be installed on all of the Collie region volunteer bushfire brigade trucks. The devices allow firefighters to administer oxygen at the scene of an incident.
Collie Horsepower will be building an automatic feeding shelter for their horses, enabling volunteers to spend more time delivering programs.
Allanson Primary School will use their grant to purchase a mini recycling station that will be used to produce 3D printer spools for use in their technology labs.
The Western Australian Endurance Riders Association received funding to support the 2020 Tom Quilty Cup.
The Collie Cricket Club will also be able to upgrade their change room facilities thanks to their grant.
