The Shire of Collie is calling on the community to voice its opinion on potential improvements to the day use facilities and the possibility of providing nature-based camping at Minninup Pool.

A community meeting held on May 23 had roughly 50 people attend to discuss what to do with the tourist site.
Located only 3km south of Collie, Minninup Pool is a wide stretch of the Collie River and is a tranquil spot for swimming, fishing, and canoeing.
The pool currently has picnic table and toilet facilities available.
The meeting was opened by traditional owner Joe Northover, who explained what the place meant to Indigenous people.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray then spoke about his vision of small-scale development and enhanced tourism opportunities.
Glamping, a form of glamorous camping was raised at the meeting, but did not seem favourable among the attendees.
To coincide with the meeting, the shire is also holding an online survey.
The survey is to help the council put together a plan to develop the popular section of the town's river and to gain an understanding of the community's needs and aspirations.

Back in January, the Mail reported the planning process would include extensive engagement with the Collie community, an economic pre-feasibility study, Aboriginal heritage assessments, environmental assessments and a concept design.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray committed $500,000 towards the project before the 2017 state election, with the planning stage to be run by the shire and South West Development Commission.
