A WOMAN charged with stabbing her former boyfriend appeared in the Bunbury Supreme Court today (Monday).
Rachel Elizabeth Boyd is accused of stabbing her former boyfriend, Trent John Panizza, at their Australind home after an argument on January 28.
Mr Panizza sustained a stab wound to his chest and later died in hospital.
Miss Boyd has pleaded not guilty to murder and the trial is expected to take five days.
Both families of the accused and the deceased were in the court for the opening statements from both the prosecutor and the defence lawyer.
Prosecutor Robert Wilson spent more than half an hour outlining details of the case in his opening address to the 15 jurors.
Linda Black is representing Miss Boyd in the case, which is before Justice Stephen Hall.
Over the next five days the jury will hear from a range of witnesses, including family members and friends of the deceased and accused as well as police, forensics experts, a neighbour and ambulance paramedic who was called to the stabbing.
The first witness called today was the deceased man’s father, John Panizza.
Miss Boyd was released on bail in September from Bandyup Women's Prison.
