Seven South-West bowlers will play for Western Australia's Representative "Sandgroper" Bowling Arm Team, later this year.
Bunbury Bowling Club members Laurie Blurton, Don Batt, and Sue Delaporte will compete in this year's National Bowling Arm Sides Championships, held in Tranmere, South Australia from September 9 to 12.
The announcement marks Delaporte's first state team selection, and Blurton and Batt's third.
Ashley Armstrong (Capel), Ray Bairstow (Eaton), Jamie Parker (Collie), and Kim Ward (Binningup) were also picked for the squad.
The seven were selected based on their efforts in last month's inaugural State Bowling Arm Singles Championships, at the Warnbro Bowling Club.
Up against competitors from 20 other clubs, Blurton excelled throughout the tournament.
Making through to the final, he finished ahead of second-placed Mitch Brown (Wanneroo) and Bob Eayrs (Mandurah) in third.
Blurton, who also serves as the Sandgroper's bowling arm coordinator, said he was looking forward to the national event.
"It feels terrific to be selected. It's good for Bunbury and good for the club," he said.
"We're training once per month, in the lead up to the event.
"Each bowler will get to play at least eight times during the competition."
Delaporte said the sport was based around skill, patience, and discipline.
"Bowls is no longer considered an old person's game. Heaps of young people are giving it a go," she said.
Batt thanked the other Bunbury Bowling Club members for their guidance.
"Bowls gets us out of the house. We all enjoy the exercise and the camaraderie," he said.
