More than 200 concerned community members packed into the Gelorup hall on June 29 to continue discussions regarding the Southern section of the Bunbury Outer Ring Road.
Main Roads representatives and South-West MLC Adele Farina attended the meeting but Bunbury MLA Don Punch, Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti were noticeably absent.
Friends of the Gelorup Corridor spokesperson Kieran Noonan said the meeting went well with a clear, unified and determined message delivered to the Main Roads team.
"Yes, a very definite resolve to continue this campaign until the Government starts to listen to and act on all of the environmental, social, economic and heritage concerns with the current alignment," he said.
"We insist that the Minister direct Main Roads and the BORR team to cease all planning for the current alignment, and instruct them to start planning for a genuine outer ring road route that will actually achieve the original outcomes.
"This is much bigger than just a small band of agitators, we are hundreds, and will very soon be thousands."
Mr Noonan said the Friends of the Gelorup Corridor group would continue to continue to lobby Main Roads and Minister Saffioti, increasing pressure on them publicly and call them to account.
Main Roads spokesman Dean Roberts said the BORR team had appreciated the opportunity to listen to the presentations made by community members and take part in a question and answer session.
"The meeting was called by community members following the Government's decision to proceed with project development of BORR southern section within the existing road reserve," he said.
"With the existing road reserve confirmed, no other road corridors are being considered."
Mr Roberts said the concept designs would now be developed and discussed with the community.
