Local businesses have had another valuable opportunity to connect directly with visiting international importers, travel and hospitality representatives, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the South West Development Commission's TradeStart team.
The State Government agency organised for a Malaysian industry delegation to meet with South West beverage producers at showcase tasting events and site visits around the region during Margaret River's Cabin Fever festival.
Wine, beer, cider and spirits were the focus of the group, which sampled what the Bunbury-Geographe, Margaret River and Southern Forests regions have to offer.
With the recent creation of a Regional Trade Network to lift exports in the south of the state, the tour will taste the flavours of the Great Southern.
SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball said the inbound delegation was the second held this year on the back of a major foodie event, with a separate delegation having toured the region in the lead-up to Truffle Kerfuffle in June.
"Having a delegation come directly to the region is a great way to connect local producers with potential opportunities in the global marketplace," Ms Ball said.
"Our region produces quality products and we are working with local businesses to get the word out in order to maximise export and tourism opportunities for the South West."
