The Shire of Capel, in partnership with the Western Australian Local Government Association, will host a one-off Cash for Containers event at the Boyanup Farmers Market on Sunday, August 25.
WALGA has received funding from the State Government and is working with the shire to help facilitate the event.
Users can exchange containers for a 10c refund.
The shire will accept beverage cans, plastic and glass bottles with lids removed, and flavoured milk containers between 150 millilitres and 3 litres.
Containers must be clean and empty, and there is a limit of 200 bottles per family/group.
Spirit bottles, wine bottles, and standard milk bottles will not be accepted as they will not be covered by the 2020 WA Container Deposit Scheme.
The shire is also giving away 100 Kitchen Caddys for Food Organics, Garden Organics waste.
Community members can show their waste calendar to redeem the caddy.
At the event, shire residents can exchange their calendar vouchers for compostable bags.
