Bunbury resident Cheryl Kozisek has jumped at the opportunity to run for City of Bunbury Council in 2019.
She and her family first moved from Manjimup to Bunbury almost two decades ago.
Mrs Kozisek served as a lecturer at South Regional TAFE for six years, before starting up her own interior design business.
She went on to become president of The Retail Co., helping small businesses to navigate through a tough economic climate.
The candidate would like to see Bunbury make some fresh changes within the next few years.
"I believe I can make a real difference to help our city," she said.
"We need to bring both locals and tourists into Bunbury. We need to promote inner-city living and bring the train station back into the city.
"We require something that will bring people to Bunbury from all over Australia. A salt water pool, for example, would help to put our town on the map."
Mrs Kozisek and the other candidates are all keen to assist the City of Bunbury and the wider community.
"I would like to see a thriving CBD and a thriving city," she said.
"If we lose the heart of our city, then we'll lose sight of who Bunbury is.
"If the city does well, then everyone will do well."
Nominations for this year's Local Government Elections will close at 4pm on Thursday, September 12.
