With a collection of hit singles and chart-topping albums, singer-songwriter Alex Lloyd defined Australian pop/alternative rock for an entire generation.
Reflecting upon his highs and lows as an artist, the 44-year-old will soon embark upon his latest tour.
The tour will see Lloyd, along with special guests Hey Major, hit the Princes of Wales Hotel, Bunbury on Thursday, October 17.
Celebrating the release of his debut album, Black the Sun, back in 1999, the show will feature many of Lloyd's older and newer tracks.
Backed by the album's original line-up, he will perform the entire double platinum-selling record in full.
EMI Music will release a special 20th anniversary edition of Black The Sun, featuring several tracks recorded Live At The Wireless via Triple J.
Following his trip to The Dunsborough Hotel on Friday, October 18, Lloyd will visit Fremantle before travelling through South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales.
Lloyd said the shows would appeal to fans and new listeners alike.
"In going back and listening to Black the Sun, I have formed a real close connection with the album," he said.
"I am really looking forward to getting out there with the band and performing some new shows.
"I haven't done any band shows within the past six years.
"The tour is something I have been looking forward to since the start of 2019. I'm hoping it will be one of the highlights of my year."
Performing throughout his teenage years and early twenties, Lloyd enlisted the help of producer and Psychedelic Furs member Ed Buller.
Turning heads with its electronica/pop/rock flavour, Black the Sun reached the top 10 of the ARIA national album chart before remaining in the top 50 album chart for 28 weeks.
Gaining plenty of new fans, Lloyd won Best New Artist at the 1999 ARIA Awards.
He went on to win Best Male Artist in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
Some of his tracks popped up in Australian drama Two Hands and Hollywood blockbuster Scream 2.
Lloyd's second album, Watching Angels Mend, went triple platinum, before his third album, Distant Light, resonated with fans and new listeners.
In 2002, his smash-hit single Amazing made it to Number One on Triple J's Hottest 100.
The musician was nominated for Engineer of the Year and Best Male Artist at the 2004 ARIAs.
Between the mid-2000s and today, Lloyd has released several albums through independent distributors.
Having achieved critical and commercial success over the past two decades, he has become one of Australian music's biggest names.
"Black the Sun marked the beginning of my solo career," he said.
"I love the fact that I have had such a long career in music. Music is extremely important to me.
"If you're an aspiring musician, you have to believe in yourself and keep trying."
