Dalyellup College's Year 12 students recently teamed up to shine a light on mental health issues.
Health Studies students Phoebe Scott and Carter Matthews began researching the Blue Tree Project, earlier this year.
"We've seen a few blue trees around the place, so we thought it would be a good idea to place one in front of the school," Carter said.
After finding a dead tree near the school grounds, the students brought it back and cleaned it up.
The pair then reached out a handful of local businesses.
Inspirations Paint, Bunbury donated the blue paint, while Holcim Australia - Bunbury supplied the concrete.
First Class Concrete Finishers Pty. Ltd. and Bunbury Crane Hire worked together to install the tree.
Pleased with the result, Phoebe and Carter thanked their classmates, teachers, and the businesses for their support.
"Dalyellup College supports R U OK? Day each year. We make a big deal of it," Phoebe said.
"The two of us wanted to help raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention."
Dalyellup College health and phys ed teacher Jenaya Bell said the students have displayed strong leadership skills, over the past few months.
"It feels great to see them lead this project and to help the community," she said.
"They have created something that will benefit everyone involved in the school."
Held on Thursday, September 12, R U OK? Day is a nationally recognised day of action encouraging all community members to ask one simple question.
Dressing up in yellow, the students contributed to the school's 'Mood Board'.
The students and teachers took part in zumba, capture the flag, and mixed sports.
Ms Bell said the school was proud to support R U OK? Day.
"If the students are struggling, we want them to share their feelings," she said.
"We want them to know that this is a safe place, and that our Year 12s are here to help."
