As the Collie Cricket Club gears up for its first game in the 2019-20 season, they celebrate the generosity of the community unveiling a new shed.
Built thanks to the support of Premier Coal, Bendigo Bank and DC Construction and Maintenance the new shed means future plans can begin to take place and organisation will be easier in the coming season according to club president Jamie Moloney.
"Before we had only the one space to store everything we have from rollers to prepare the pitches, team kits, fences, and everything else," he said.
"This extra space means we can open up the other store area and transform it into a change room.
"We've got a ladies team starting for the first time this year and whereas before the men would just drop their dacks to change, this will bring a level of privacy for the women and those not wanting to change in the open."
The Shed was funded by a $4000 donation each by Premier Coal and Bendigo Bank and around $2000 in labour by Dave O'Brien of DC Construction and Maintenance.
Bendigo Bank's Glyn Yates said being able to give back to the community which supports them was a key goal for the local bank.
"At the end of the day donations such as this are made possible by our customers," he said.
"We make profit from people banking with us and so it's important for us at Bendigo Bank to invest that profit back into the community."
