For more than a year, Kobe Bentley has been growing his hair with one goal - to raise much-needed funds for sick and disadvantaged children.
The eleven-year-old was first introduced to the idea by his mother Taryn Thomson, after he couldn't bring himself to cut his hair during a visit to the hairdresser.
Since that day, Kobe has been adamant about giving back and raising money for the cause, unphased by comments from his peers and being mistaken for a girl.
"I have been planning to donate my hair to kids that need it," Kobe said.
"I've been wanting to do this for more than a year.
"My friends and family think it's a good idea and that it's a good thing for me to do. I'm nervous, but really excited.
"It feels good knowing that I'm making an impact on kids with cancer and kids that are sick.
"It's important to make kids feel more self confident."
On Friday evening, November 15, he did just that - raising more than $4,350 for Variety Children's Charity during the Hair for All event in Bunbury.
The cause is one particularly close to home for the outgoing eleven-year-old, whose brother Jai died not long before his fifth birthday.
Kobe said he had been inspired by his little brother, after his organ donation went on to save multiple lives.
"My brother... we knew he was going to pass away and we donated his organs and saved someone's life," he said.
"Now that I'm a bit older, I understand how amazing and important the decision was.
"I'm so proud of my little brother for saving the lives he did and want to follow in his footsteps."
Kobe extended thanks to his friends and family for their generous donations and unwavering support.
