Collie claim a hard fought win over Dalyellup
Collie travelled down the hill to take on third placed Dalyellup on the weekend in Round 8 of the Busselton Districts Cricket Association season.
Collie lost the toss and were asked to bowl on a wicket that didn't offer much to the bowlers.
Brayden Kent opened the bowling for Collie and struck in the third over.
After that it was a tough contest between bat and ball with Dalyellup putting on a 73-run partnership.
John Shepherd was introduced into the attack for the last over before drinks.
He picked up a wicket with the last ball of the first session to have Dalyellup 2/73 at the drinks break.
After the break the runs started to flow a bit more freely, but Collie continued to take wickets.
The home side was eventually bowled out for 189 on the last ball of the innings.
Best of the Collie bowlers were Blair Malatesta with 3 for 47 from his 8 overs, John Shepherd with 2 for 7 from 3 overs and Matt Tanner with 2 for 24 from 10 overs.
Collie's didn't get off to the best start, losing Brayden Kent for 1.
This bought Malatesta to the crease, who along with Austin Kent got Collie's score to 88 before Malatesta was run out for 38.
Bailey Moloney made just 1 in his first game back from a knee injury and when Kent got out a well made 80, Collie were 4 for 161.
When Greg Tomasini was bowled for a patient 32 Collie still required a further 15 runs.
John Shepherd and Luke McCormick saw Collie over the line with 4 overs to spare.
Collie now sit a game clear in second spot, coming up against a strong Eaton team this week at home.

Women's
Collie women's team have easy win over Colts
Collie played host to Colts the weekend before last in their Round 4 clash in the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association Women's competition.
Colts won the toss and elected to bat, but Collie's Nat Flynn struck with the third ball of the game, knocking over Colts' opener for a duck.
It didn't get much better from then on for the visitors, with Collie taking regular wickets.
Collie shared the wickets around, with Rinay Swallow taking 4 for 14 off 6 overs, Nat Flynn with 2 for 14 off 6 overs, Bella Dallywater taking 2 for 9 off 3.2 overs and Amy Capogreco with 1 for 9 off her 2 overs, the best of the home teams bowlers.
Colts were bowled out for 74 in the 22nd over.
Collie's chase started strongly with a 41-run opening partnership before Swallow (11) was out, bowled.
Tayla Kirk made a quick 14, and Lauren Ingram scored 3.
Amy Capogreco made 37 off just 25 balls to see Collie over the line in the 12th over to record the second win from three games.
