Students, staff and parents from Bridgetown High School have donated bags and personal hygiene items as a part of the Share the Dignity charity organisations, 'It's in a Bag' aid.
Aimed at providing support to vulnerable women and girls, the charity's main focus is on females who are homeless or living below the poverty line.
The It's in a bag appeal seeks to collect thousands of handbags and backpacks filled with hygiene items and toiletries from all over the country, which are collected at Bunnings stores and then distributed to vulnerable Australians just in time for Christmas.
The bags are made up in three categories: Teen bags, Women's bags and Mum's bags.
The appeal was supported by Bridgetown High School teacher Lynn Humby who said the project would help educate students on issues that affect so many people in our society.
"There are so many at risk people in our society and I believe that this is a great opportunity to show our students how simple it can be to offer some support to them," Ms Humby said.
"Everyone has been very generous, and we have ended up with over 27 bags full of so many items that will hopefully put a smile on someone's face."
Ms Humby said it was a great opportunity for the students to give vulnerable women and girls a reason to smile and feel cared for over the festive season.
"This is definitely something that we will continue to do each year," she said.
