BDCA, Round Nine: Leschenault claims decisive win over Hay Park

After nine rounds, Leschenault sits one point above Marist on the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association's First Grade ladder.

On Saturday morning, the Green Caps dismissed Hay Park openers Jono Whitney (one run) and Kris Miller (0) in quick succession.

Stranded on 2/1, the Redbacks celebrated as John Richardson (26) and Steven Florance (15) upped the run rate.

Leschenault's Matthew Bowles (4/11 from 5.2 overs) and James Letchford (3/20) assisted in dismissing Hay Park for just 78.

Green Caps' openers Justin Woods (9) and Kurt D'Agostino (1) were sent packing, before captain Matt Buchanan knocked 35 (including three fours).

Despite a few hiccups along the way, Leschenault did enough to reach Hay Park's total.

Redbacks' bowler Shaun Bulman claimed 3/5 from 3.5 overs, while Richardson took 3/27.

Marist scored another four points with a resounding win over bottom-placed Eaton, at the Eaton Sports Ground.

Clint Hewson (28) and Arron Quartermaine (23) impressed for the home side, before James Hillery slogged 55 off 82 balls.

Following a swift lower order collapse, the Beavers were all out for a modest 150.

Blues' star Ben Shipley picked up 5/36 from his 12.5 overs.

Marist openers Saddy Afridi (86, including seven fours and six sixes) and Corey Fagan (31) stepped up to form a solid partnership.

With help from Daniel Lomax (63 off 47), the Blues reached the Beavers' total in the mid afternoon.

Eaton's Liam Renton took 4/21 from 10 overs, while Steve Lazars claimed 2/24.

Following a well-deserved two-week break, teams will return to the field for Round 10 on February 1.
