Three of Bunbury's most experienced musicians have teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind studio collaboration.
Early last year, local guitarist and songwriter Dave Meek felt inspired to come up with some fresh, exciting tracks.
Looking to turn his dream into a reality, Meek and two of his friends - vocalists John Hayes and Angie Williams - formed a new band, affectionately called Studio 90.
"I worked with John for eight years as part of Midlife Crisis. We were probably one of the better-known cover bands in Bunbury, we used to play regularly," he said.
"When I played him some of my tracks, he said, 'I can do the vocals for you'.
"I also wanted a rich female voice - a cross between Tina Turner and Adele. That's exactly what Angie Williams's voice is like."
Utilising Meek's home studio, the trio worked tirelessly to write, produce, and mix each track on their debut EP, October Sun.
Meek taught himself the basics of music production, how to create the band's website, and now publish their music.
"Before John and Angie came on-board, I had finished all of the instrumentals. They then provided artistic input on a variety of different things as well as the vocals," he said.
With its breezy vibe, smooth vocals, and catchy instrumentals, the EP tells profound stories about the South-West.
"The EP is very summery. It's inspired by the love we all have for the region," he said. "It's a very polished finished product. We're very proud of it."
Both the new single, Sunshine Blue, and its video clip were released on December 6, before the band held the EP's official launch on January 11.
Meek credited local videographer Chadd McNabb for his efforts in shooting the video clip in Bunbury with local actors.
He also praised Sarah Henderson for the new website photos and album art design.
The band is looking forward to recording and releasing its second EP in the not-too-distant future.
Meek confirmed the second EP would deliver some slightly darker, more soulful tunes.
Studio 90 would like to thank all their fans and everybody that has taken an interest in their music.
