Collie Power Men's and Women's teams travelled to Australind Soccer Club on a wet and wild Sunday looking to reignite their season and climb their respective ladders.
The Women's team, sponsored by Physio Group South West, faced a strong Australind outfit and fell behind early as Goya Olecki's injury gave space for two easy Australind goals.
The stormy conditions proved too difficult for Collie's defence who are used to kinder weather; Australind players ran rampant through the hapless centre-backs scoring another four.
The only consolation coming from superb volley from local talent, Bonny Berridge, who beat the keeper through pace and precision.
The second half proved to be much more equal as potential Hall of Fame coach, Jeff Allen, implored his team at half-time to show some fighting spirit.
The women responded bravely and kept the game even to the final score of 6-1.
Collie Power Men's team, sponsored by Thomson's Auto Parts, began their game on the backfoot.
A slick passing move opened up space for Australind's striker to score in the corner.
This seemed to spur Collie's men on, and a series of chances led to striker, Mark Aubameyang, being fouled in the area.
Although veteran defender Hayden De Angelis had his eyes on prize, Aubameyang calmly equalised.
Soon after, the high line of Australind's defence was caught napping, as Aubameyang found player/coach Harker who scored his first and only goal of the 2020 season.
Half time came with a storm system approaching, the heavy rain and sloppy conditions played into the hands of Liverpudlian defender Peter Baker's hands.
A skidding ball brought on wet conditions earned Collie Power a third, before the skilful footwork of Bailey Carroll saw another penalty despatched at the death for the game to finish 4-1.
The teams now have a well-earned bye, before resuming the second half of the season with a renewed fighting spirit.
