THE BUNBURY Golf Club have been named Men's Pennant Champions after securing the 36 hole win at the Joondalup Country Club on Sunday, May 30.

After an intense competition against eight opposing clubs, Bunbury came out on top playing seven rounds and only losing one.

In the final round, Bunbury faced the Hartfield Golf Club and prevailed with four matches to three, taking home Golf Western Australia's Division Two Men's Pennant Flag.

Bunbury Golf Club Pennant Captain Greg Golinski said it was unbelievable to think that Bunbury would play Division One in 2022.

"I couldn't be prouder of the boys who have shown a real team-first attitude all year, as well as tremendous focus and determination to get the job done each week," Golinski said.

"My role as Captain was easy given the dedication of the boys and their commitment to achieving the common goal we set ourselves at the start of the year - making Division One."

The Bunbury Golf Club have previously won flags in Divisions Three, Four and Five since being admitted to the competition in 2015.

Golinski said the decision by Golf Western Australia to include the Club into the competition six years ago was what helped cement the sport in Bunbury.

"Bunbury being involved has definitely assisted the promotion and the development of the game in South West, which can only be seen as a positive."

The win will see Bunbury Golf Club promoted to Division One in Western Australia in 2022, marking the first time that a non-metropolitan club has achieved this feat.

"I honestly think that team spirit was a key determining factor in us winning this year - the old cliché of a champion team will beat a team of champions was very evident all year," Golinksi said.

"A huge thanks to our sponsor WA Drill Hire, as well as everyone from Bunbury that came out to support us not just in the final but during the regular season also. We can't wait for the 2022 season to get underway!"

The Bunbury Aces also recently took home the Division One win on June 5 at the Southwest Ladies Pennants.
