THE first weekend of November delivered a wet and windy start to the month with the city nearly surpassing the entire rainfall figures for October.
Popular events Relay for Life and the Geographe Crush Wine Exhibition battled dreary conditions as the weather piled on 23.8mms of rain.
Bureau of Meteorology climate and weather information officer John Relf said the rainfall was a welcome start to the month following a dry winter.
“We picked up a bit of rainfall and it’s not a bad start to the month,” he said.
“We’re not far off the average for November which is 26 mms – we’re just a stone’s throw away from that.
“The wind reached 67 kilometres per hour on Saturday.”
The wind was not the only factor residents battled with over the busy weekend.
Monday reached a minimum of 8.4 degrees – the coolest November day for the past two years.
Mr Relf confirmed normal November weather is expected to return mid-week.
The climate officer said summer predictions were expected to bring warmer nights to much of the state.
He said summer was also expected to also bring additional rains with a 65 per cent chance for Bunbury and the South West to exceed median rainfalls.
