Some of the South West's most talented Indigenous artists have been celebrated with the winners of Noongar Country 2021 at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery announced.
The annual exhibition featured artworks from established and emerging Indigenous artists living and working on Noongar country.
Coinciding with NAIDOC Week 2021 and its theme Healing Country, the exhibition had its own theme of Power and Healing: Now - allowing contemporary Aboriginal artists explore the concept of country and how it relates to healing, power structures, history, memory and justice.
The Bunbury Regional Art Gallery was inundated with impressive artworks, and after being delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions, last month held an awards ceremony in which about 90 people attended.
The Alcoa Award of $7500 was awarded to Rhona Wallam for her artwork 'Landscape'.
The two Highly Commended awards went to artists Rohin Kickett for 'A Beautiful Death Yenyening Lakes' and Mandy White for 'Miss Pinky'.
Rhona Wallam was also voted as the People's Choice Award.
The exhibition has now ended.
The City of Bunbury and the gallery congratulate and thank this year's Noongar Country Curator Amanda Bell for a successful and moving exhibition.
