The first grand final match of the day on September 19 had the tightest margin when hot favourites Busselton played Carey Park in the colts division.
Carey Park had a strong run into the finals, winning their last ten games of the home and away season, including against Busselton.
But it should have been a good lesson for the Magpies going into the grand final.
Busselton's Brodie Macartney was the first to kick a goal in the first quarter.
There was a lot of turnovers for both teams in the middle of the ground, making it hard for either to make a huge impact on the scoreboard.
Busselton's Jack Barnes was able to kick the team's second goal before the first siren.
The intensity picked up in the second quarter, with Carey Park being a bit careless and giving away free kicks.
Carey Park were able to get their first goal but it was quickly followed by a 50 metre penalty for Busselton which resulted in a goal by Josh Harris.
The Magpies' leading goal kicker for the year Ben Taylor wasn't having a great day out and missed a set shot.
Busselton were dominating the play in the second term, but it wasn't shown on the scoreboard as they kicked one goal and two behinds.
Carey Park's Lockie Emmott and Busselton's Jack Brockliss were both dominant in the first half of the match.
Emmott was quick to get Carey Park on the scoreboard in the third quarter with the first goal of the term.
Busselton did have a quick reply with a goal to ensure they stayed in front.
Carey Park's Brady Lenaghan kicked a goal which bridged the gap to just four points and the Panthers' started to look hungry.
The third quarter saw the lead change multiple times as Busselton's Matthew Hunt and Brody Delaney kicked goals while Carey Park's Chayse Martinson also pegged one back.
Busselton's Taylor could have put the team seven points in front at three quarter time but missed a goal on the siren.
It was just one point the difference at the last break.
Carey Park got possession of the ball early in the last term but Peter Woods missed a shot on goal from straight in front.
Busselton's Taylor kicked a goal to extend their lead.
It was a tough fight in the last quarter but Carey Park had more scoring shots and while they were not always accurate, it was enough for them to come away with the win.
The final score was 8.12.60 to 8.4.52.
Carey Park's Griffin Hyde won the best on ground for the match.
