The replacement for the Ram 1500 TRX high-performance pickup is expected to be unveiled later this month, moving from supercharged V8 power to a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine.

While it's not confirmed that this is the Ram 1500 TRX's successor, multiple US outlets report the vehicle is the 1500 RHO, as the high-performance pickup is expected to be called.
As previously reported, the new twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder Hurricane engine fitted across the Ram 1500 range will make its way into the RHO, albeit with higher outputs than the standard models.
The base Hurricane engine produces 313kW of power and 636Nm of torque, while the RHO is understood to score an increase, bumping its outputs to 402kW and 706Nm.
Though both states of tune offer an increase on the 298kW and 678Nm outputs of the 1500's outgoing 5.7-litre Hemi V8 engine, they aren't close to the 523kW and 882Nm produced by the 1500 TRX's 6.2-litre supercharged V8.
The TRX was also equipped with more off-road oriented suspension and other upgrades compared to the base pickup. It's not yet known if this philosophy will carry across to the 1500 RHO.
It's expected the Ram 1500 RHO will compete with performance pickup rivals such as the Ford F-150 Raptor, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.
