Netballers from all over the South West have delivered commendable results in a range of competitions this month.
The ECU Souwest Jets’ League, Under 18, and Reserves teams headed to Eaton Recreation Centre on Friday night for round one of the West Australian Netball League season.
The league side was full of confidence and enthusiasm ahead of its clash with the Rangers.
Riley Culnane, Ella Taylor, and Harmony Sutherland were effective in halting the Rangers around the court.
Aided by a plethora of assists from Wing Attack Jessica Repacholi, Goal Attack Maia Bratton and Goal Shooter Giselle Taylor were unstoppable up forward.
Bratton and Taylor’s height and strength helped them to overpower the visitors’ defenders.
After trailing the Rangers by one at quarter time, the Jets remained focused during the second term.
The Rangers took advantage of their 26 to 24 half-time lead, picking up form in the second half.
Despite their efforts, the Jets walked away with a 59 to 45 loss to the Rangers.
In round nine of the South West Netball Football League, Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault scored an upset victory over league leaders Carey Park.
Following their 50 to 49 loss on June 9, the Panthers clinched a crushing 80 to 25 win over Augusta-Margaret River.
Busselton delivered a 58 to 42 victory over Bunbury at home, while Eaton impressed with a 45 to 38 win over South Bunbury.
Netballers from the Greater Bunbury Region recently travelled to Perth for the 2018 Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships.
Playing at Wembley Sports Park over the WA Day long weekend, Eaton Netball Association took out the U13 – Division 7 crown.
Leschenault Netball Association nabbed the U14 – Division 6 title, before Bunbury won the U15 – Division 4 competition.
Bunbury also brought home the Open Division 3 championship trophy.
Of the 39 divisions, 15 were won by regional associations.
