A group of South West athletes achieved impressive results during the 2018 West Australian Arm Wrestling Championships on October 20, presented by White Knuckle Promotions.
Thirty arm wrestlers from all over the state travelled to Baldivis Recreation Centre for a day of intense arm wrestling action.
Australind’s Brenden Mckenzie scored the Left arm (Under 90 kilograms), Right arm (Under 90kg), and Left arm – Overall titles.
He also placed second in the Right arm – Overall division, with Rick Kamana taking home the win.
Manjimup’s Cindy Gibellini also entertained the crowd at last weekend’s competition.

- Ryan "The Milkman" Scott
Bunbury arm wrestling champion and event organiser Ryan “the Milkman” Scott said the day showcased an extraordinary array of competitors.
“The crowd there was about 200 people and there was a lot of cheering going on for each particular athlete,” he said.
“We had a couple of guys from Queensland come over for super matches for cash prizes.
“I trained the Bunbury athletes so seeing them compete is a real thrill for me.”
The day also included a ‘Beat the Milkman’ event, pitting 40 competitors against Scott in a row.
“Some of the ladies used two arms and I was lifting them up over the table, the crowd seemed to really like it,” he said.
“We had a lot of new people show up to have a go at arm wrestling.”
Four athletes from the region, including Scott, will travel to South Australia for the national championships later this year.
Prior to the tournament, the team will train on the arm wrestling table three times per week.
The competitors will also undergo their own weight training regimes.
Scott was thrilled to see the sport gaining in popularity.
“It’s a great sport and it’s taking off...it’s just growing really rapidly,” he said.
“Next year, I hope to grow the sport in WA by holding another event in Collie and a bigger and better state championships.
“We’re really pushing forward and making bigger and better events each year.”
