Bunbury-based speedway team Pittard Racing and its drivers are doing the South West proud.
Pittard’s racers, Chad Pittard and Ash Hounsfield, have excelled during the 2018/19 Wingless Sprint WA Championship Series.
The pair have already picked up feature-race wins and numerous minor podium results.
Both have banked enough points to retain a spot towards the pointy end of the WSWA Championship point score.
Pittard was unstoppable in the opening round of the WA Club Championship at Kellerberrin Speedway on September 15.
He secured pole position and led from start to finish to claim the win.
Travelling to Narrogin Speedway for round two on October 13, Hounsfield proved himself as a force to be reckoned with in the feature race.
Hounsfield and Pittard made it onto the podium at Perth Motorplex on November 3, taking second and third respectively.
Hounsfield drove with style in Collie on November 10. The 29-year-old claimed the win over Brad Taylor in second and Daran Humfrey in third.
Pittard powered into the lead and pipped Hounsfield early on.
An electrical fault while leading the race robbed Pittard of victory, leaving Hounsfield to clinch top honours.
In a close race to the finish, Pittard came in second behind Nathan Walton on November 24.
Hounsfield went on to take the chequered flag in Bunbury on December 1.
Despite experiencing some misfortune so far this season, Hounsfield and Pittard have put themselves within the top three of the Club Championship point score.
“We’ve had plenty of speed so far this season and it’s been a good start for the whole team. The goal is for that to continue throughout the rest of the season,” Pittard said.
“In addition to the rest of the team who work hard to give us competitive cars, we’ve also got some amazing support behind us from each of our sponsors.
“We’re glad to be able to repay them with results on the track.”
Pittard will contest the full WA schedule, including the WA Title at Kalgoorlie International Speedway over the Australia Day long weekend (January 26 and 27).
The team may also contest the Australian Championship at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway in Victoria on February 22 and 23, but that’s going to depend on budget.
Hounsfield would like to thank the entire Pittard family, his brother Jason and his crew member Jayden Davis, while Pittard is thankful for the support of his dad Ray and the Hounsfield family.
Pittard Racing would like to thank their season sponsors for their support: Foton Australia, Century Batteries, Moyle Engines and Race Parts, Mobil 1, Bunbury Kart Centre, Auto Panel and Paint, Pittard Motors, and On2it Graphics.
Pittard and Hounsfield will hit the track again after Christmas, gearing up for the next WSWA Championship event at Perth Motorplex on December 26.
