Cleanaway WA will soon draw up revised plans for its landfill site in Banksia Road, Dardanup.
Community members and shire representatives attended a special meeting on Tuesday, April 16, to discuss three recent proposals from the company.
Following advice received from the shire and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, Cleanaway withdrew the three proposals earlier this month.
Cleanaway will develop a new application, providing details about its five-year plan.
Shire president Mick Bennett said the meeting improved communication between the council and community.
"We've given community members the chance to talk to council about it in a public forum, so they can cement their views," he said.
"Council resolved to refer the application to the Environmental Protection Authority once it comes in, for an environmental assessment.
"I'm glad that it's going to be submitted as one, not for any reason other than good planning.
"As far as council is concerned, we need to look at how we can deal with everything. We would like to get more information about what's intended to be placed in the tip site."
Cleanaway recently announced it would no longer be pursuing a 24-hour operating licence for the Dardanup site.
Cleanaway WA general manager Damian Burton said combining the applications meant the company was able to be clear with the community about its five-year plan for the site.
"Due to the increase to project value, we are now required to go through the Joint Development Assessment Panel process," he said.
"We have received extensive feedback from the community about our applications and, in light of this, we are revising and submitting our proposal in mid to late May.
"We are in the process of undertaking a further traffic impact assessment.
We will continue to monitor truck speeds and work with the shire who are responsible for approving truck routes."
Cleanaway plans to hold community meetings in Dardanup and Ferguson next month.
