Sanctuary Golf Resort is looking at new ways of attracting community members from all walks of life to the sport.
The club held its first Open Day on Saturday, May 18, with children and adults growing accustomed to the first-class course and its picturesque surrounds.
Attendees hit the driving range, took part in a 'Crazy Putt' competition, and enjoyed the family-friendly activities.
Committee member Brian Jardine and PGA teaching professional Craig Reynolds said the event was effective in promoting the club and the sport.
"We're trying to get kids/anyone under 18 involved, so that the sport will grow," Jardine said.
"Golf teaches people about etiquette and personal development, which they might not get from other sports.
"People can also play golf throughout their entire lives."
The club is looking to kickstart a junior golf program in the not-too-distant future.
