People will be able to learn about Bunbury's culturally diverse community with the upcoming This is Me series.
A new partnership between the City of Bunbury and Bunbury Multicultural Group will see migrants share their stories on how they have found a sense of belonging in the South West.
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said he encouraged everyone to attend the series as Bunbury continues to grow as a strong, inclusive and resilient community.
"The This is Me series will highlight the stories of those people and help in educating others about their cultural backgrounds and traditions, and perhaps why they've chosen to call the South West home," he said.
The series of talks will promote the rich cultural diversity of our community, and nurture understanding and connection between those from different backgrounds and cultural roots.
The first in the series will be held on June 24 at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre with Widi Astuti Farrow.
Ms Farrow has already shown off some of her Indonesian culture when she was part of the Mail's In My Kitchen segment.
Bunbury Multicultural Group chairperson Susanne Hamersley said the sessions would put a face to a cultural group and help dissolve myths by reducing the 'fear of the unknown'.
"It builds knowledge, awareness, harmony and acceptance in our community," she said.
"Events such as this, are an excellent opportunity to network, make friends and feel welcomed - and then we realise that ultimately, we can find more similarities than differences."
It is anticipated that talks will be held throughout the year and feature community members from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds.
