For 35 years, Australind-raised Daniel James Singleton has seen Bunbury evolve and undergo significant changes.
Now in 2021, Mr Singleton will contest for a councillor position in the upcoming 2021 City of Bunbury council elections.
Mr Singleton may be remembered by the community as a contender for a councillor position with the City of Bunbury in the last elections in 2019.
He said although his chance of getting in was small, the experience left him with a wealth of knowledge.
"I vowed to run again in two years with determination; knowing that Bunbury could do with some different ways of thinking," Mr Singleton said.
A qualified plumber and gasfitter by trade for the 'longest running, family owned, JAS Plumbing', Mr Singleton said since starting work at the age of 15, he had always had a keen interest in Bunbury's development.
"Especially factors that affected hospitality and tourism.
"This interest developed because of the same reason my face is recognisable to many: over the years I have been a part of, worked at or managed, majority of the many restaurants, bars and clubs dotted throughout the city," Mr Singleton said.
For the 2021 elections, Mr Singleton said his goal was simple but that it would see change 'for the better' in Bunbury.
"My goal is have a large and direct involvement of the citizens before any project is finalised. Through this, this city will evolve into something that the people want and have asked for instead of what currently occurs, which is they just live with what they are given."
"As a port town and with the new airport going into Busselton, I believe we are either going to end up like Fremantle or Rockingham, and personally I know which one I'd rather Bunbury be compared to," Mr Singleton said.
Mr Singleton said he can be found most days at the Titanium Car and Dog Wash which he runs in Pelican Point.
"But on my days off, you will see me at the beach, enjoying a meal at a café or restaurant, enjoying the markets or out exploring the best state in the world."
